Application Situation:

Scrubber Overboard Discharge area of RO-RO ship

 
 

Problem:

After the installation of the scrubber system discharge pipe, the chemicals included in the system such as sulfuric acid and sodium hydrogen sulphate and etc. will have agressive corrosive effect on the steel discharge pipe and area around the ships steel hull. Combined with the severe cavitation effects, the area is under heavy risk of metal loss due to cavitation damage.

Application Method:

The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets SOS-02. Surface was grit basted to achive SA2,5 standard. Surfaces salt contaminent measured and surface has cleaned with Belzona 9111 Cleaner&Degreaser. Specified Surface area is coated with 2 layers with Belzona 1391T. After the application, coating allowed to cure and postcured respectively.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

Ships operating with Scrubber systems onboard are under severe corrosive effect. Ships Hull and other steel equipment which is directly contact with the Scrubber Disharge Water cannot continue to operate unprotected for a long time. With Advanced Belzona Protection, the affected areas will be shielded and the Ship can cruise safely while operating with Scrubber Systems.
