Problem: The pipe eroded over time and this resulted in a weakening of the pipe wall and weld seams. The pipe wall was very thin and there was a risk of an ecological disaster. As the pipe could not be cut off, a cold applied Belzona repair was chosen.

Application Situation
The Pipeline at a Sewage Treatment Plant in Poland had suffered thin-wall defects in four stub pipes DN600.
Application Method
The application was carried out as per the Belzona System Leaflet VP11 and Belzona Superwrap II method statement provided. Belzona 9611 and Belzona 1221 were used to successfully to stop the leak within minutes. Following thorough grit blasting all pitting and weld seams were filled with Belzona 1111 and Belzona 1161, which accounted for about 90% of the substrate surface. After that the Belzona Superwrap II system was applied. Finally it was coated with Belzona 5811.
Belzona Facts
Belzona cold applied solutions were the only option as the pipe could not be turned off. The fact that Belzona products has potentially stopped an ecological disaster is great news for the customer and the wider environment around the geographical area of this plant.
