Application Situation
A vessel containing Ethanol, Diethyl Ether & Ethylene in operation at high temperature was experiencing corrosion & wall thinning in service. A corrosion resistant lining was required to protect the steel substrate in service.
Application Method
The vessel was grit blasted to SA2.5 & 75 microns. Any pitted areas were then filled with Belzona 1511. Areas where weld overlay had been applied in previous years were also faired using this paste grade. Belzona 1593 was then applied as a two coat system. Frost blasting in between coats was utilised to mitigate any adverse environmental effects during the application. This was completed in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet TCC-05.
Belzona Facts
Following the works the vessel was post cured at 50°C using external heat blankets. This meant the time between application & the vessel being fit for service was kept to a minimum.
