Problem: The track braking system of the conveyor belt failed causing copper ore to build up the belt. The hopper then became blocked and material began to flow out of the conveyor belt. Large pieces of ore jammed in-between the belt and driver roller causing the belt to rip in several places.

Application Situation
Repair of a 4km long conveyor belt at a copper mine.
Application Method
Application carried out in accordance with Belzona System leaflet SHM-01. The defect areas on the conveyor belt were undercut and then roughened up through mechanical preparation. The defect areas were then taped off and Belzona 2911 conditioner was applied to the substrate. Finally, Belzona 2311 was applied, incorporating Belzona 9341 reinforcement mesh into the material for added support.
Belzona Facts
74 units of Belzona 2311 were used to repair 9 defect areas along with 4km long conveyor belt. Also, some of the defects were originally repaired through vulcanization, however the client deemed these repairs as not good enough. Belzona were then called in to repair those areas and the customer was very satisfied with the Belzona cold applied solution.
