Belzona Superwrap II Returns Piping Back To Service In 48 Hours

Problem:

The 220mm diameter pipe had developed a critical (Class 3) thin wall defect at the bend. The operating temperature was 95°C and the operating pressure was 10 bar. The total defect length was 280mm in axial.

Application Method:

The application was completed in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet VPF-11. The defect area was abrasive blasted to SA 2.5 with a 75 microns profile. Belzona SuperWrap II was applied in accordance with the engineered design as a 6 wrap system, using Belzona 1983 resin to provide a further 12 years service life.

Belzona SuperWrap II was chosen because it is an engineered solution that can be designed as a pipe repair system, and is compliant with both ISO 24817 and ASME PCC-2. With the customer able to do their own designs and having applicators on-site, the repair was completed within 48 hours.
