Solving The Sealing Problem On The Roof Of The Fuel Storage Tank With Belzona

Application Situation:

Reparation on the external surface of a storage tank roof suffering from water ingress. This tank farm is used for supplying and storing Jet A1 (Kerosene) fuel to aircrafts at an airport in Turkey. Each fuel tank has a storage capacity of 30000 m3.

 
 

Problem:

Rainwater was leaking from the external surface of the tank roof through the seams. The client tried to use a differnt system to fix the problem, although that solution was unsucessful.

Application Method:

This application was carrired out in accordance with a modified version of system leaflet TCC-04. After decontamination of the previously applied and unsuccessful systems, surface preperation and then cleaning with the Belzona 9111 was carried out on the application subsrate. Belzona 3921 conditioner was then applied to the substate to ensure the Belzona 3111 would ahere. In order to ensure tightness, Belzona 3111 was applied in two layers, incorporating Belzona 9311 reinforcement tape.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

The leakage test performed after the application was successful. The customer was very satisfied with this result, and the same successful application was then repeated on a further 2 tanks in the storage facility.
