Belzona Rebuilds Grundfos Pump Impeller For The Wastewater Industry

Application Situation:

Pump impeller within a Wastewater Treatment Facility.

Problem:

A Grundfos pump impeller had been severely damaged during normal service by erosion and corrosion.

Belzona 1311 (Ceramic R-Metal)
Belzona 1812 (Ceramic Carbide FP)
Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal)

Application Method:

A thin sheet of metallic armament was attached to provide support and shape to the leading edge of the impeller. It was then rebuilt using Belzona 1311 and overcoated with Belzona 1812 to provide further abrasion resistance. Belzona 1321 was then applied over the whole impeller to provide not only erosion resistance but also a physical corrosion barrier. The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet CEP-01.

Belzona Facts:

The Distributor took the opportunity to conduct a trial with the Customer due to them scrapping the impeller and not believing that it could be repaired. Thanks to this and several other applications Belzona has now been approved for use following sucsessful trials.
