Problem: The inlet spool of an Alstom sea pump was cracked (1500mm along the length of the spool) on the outside and suffered corrosion due to sea water, therefore needing to be repaired and protected against future wear along with other parts of the pump.

Application Situation
Inlet spool of a sea pump at a Thermal Power Plant.
Application Method
The crack in the inlet spool was terminated and V-ed to prevent future crack propagation, and was then filled in using Belzona 1311 and Belzona 9341 reinforcement sheet from both inside and outside of spool. The whole spool was then overcoated using Belzona 1321. The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet CEP-06 & PDP-05.

The turbine is still in service today and is holding up well to it's operational environment - the customer therefore approves of the quality of the repairs and durability of the Belzona products used.
