Corroded vessel repaired with Belzona Superwrap II

Problem: Welding had been attempted but had failed, leaks reappeared around the welded seams of the doubler plates that had been installed.
Application Situation
A vessel containing steam & condensate had developed several leaks due to corrosion on the bottom dome.
Application Method
The vessel was grit blasted to achieve a surface profile. The welded plates were then skimmed with Belzona 1511 & any corroded areas filled. Following this four layers of Belzona Superwrap 2 were applied as a patch repair system across the full bottom dome of the vessel. Belzona 9382, mixing boards & ratchet straps were used together to consolidate the repair.
Belzona Facts
The Belzona repair was carried out over three days saving much downtime for the plant. This system avoided introducing further heat into the already weakened metal. The full encapsulation of the bottom dome ensures even if further leaks develop in the metal they will be contained by the Belzona system.
