Application Situation

A mild steel flange section at the top of a vessel had become corroded due to leaking acetic acid. A repair was required to reinstate the lost metal & provide future protection.

Application Method

The corroded area was prepared using power tools to achieve a surface profile. It was degreased & Belzona 9411 release agent was applied to the bolts that fitted around the mechanical seal housing. Belzona 4331 was then used to wet out the area before being poured in to fill the areas of metal loss.

Belzona Facts

The repair was carried out in one day. It was low hazard to the plant & personnel due to the cold application. This repair is much more corrosion resistant than the original mild steel, whilst also providing chemical resistance agaisnt the acetic acid.
