Application Situation:

Propeller shaft support brackets of a luxury yacht. This craft is 46.63m long and equipped with a 13,000hp CODAG power plant capable of 50 Knots through a combined twin-prop and waterjet arrangement.

 
 

Problem:

Cavitation had caused erosion of the parent metal and threatened the structural strength of the component if left untreated.

Belzona® 2141 (ACR-Fluid Elastomer)

Belzona® 2941 Elastomer SP-Conditioner)

 

Substrate:

Aluminum

 
 

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet SOS-2. A conventional anti-fouling was applied over the Belzona® 2141.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

Inspection of the Belzona® 2141 system after 12 months service in this aggressive environment showed no attack to the Belzona coating.
