Belzona® 1131 (Bearing Metal)

Application Situation
Worn seal area on kiln support roller shaft.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona Know-How System Leaflet MPT-2. The repair was carried out in position. Only the top cradle was removed so application was carried out in two parts. After rebuilding top half, kiln was rotated 180° to allow lower half to be rebuilt.
Belzona Facts
The traditional repair would involve replacing the roller with a spare held on-site then refurbishing the removed roller via welding/metal spraying before machining. This incurs serious costs. Shaft is reported to be oil free after five months and therefore considered a success by the client.
