Problem: The 16 inch diameter bores on the final drive of this P&H Shovel were badly worn.

  3. New bushings coated with Belzona 9411. Prior to insertion oil and grease channels are filled with a firm paraffin wax to ensure they do not get blocked. Once set, the area is heated to soften the wax so that it can be pumped out with new grease.
  4. Completed application.

The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet MPT-1.

This repair remained in service until the closing of the Shirley Basin Uranium Mine. Estimated savings in downtime and replacement costs were $125,000.00.
