Application Situation:

Evaporator tube sheet. 



Erosion / corrosion of the tube sheet due to hot caustic black liquor at approximately 185ºF and galvanic corrosion between the stainless steel tubes and mild steel tube face.

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona Know-How Leaflet HEX-1.


Belzona Facts:

Belzona has been providing protection for evaporator tube sheets at this mill since April 1992. All three applications are still in service. The first application utilized Belzona® 1321, and while the coating has now since eroded away the Belzona product is still adhering in the "grooves" around the tubes, reducing erosion in this area dramatically. The application is scheduled to be refurbished. The other two applications are just short of 3 & 4 years old respectively. A fourth application (new) is planned.
