Belzona® Protects Power Station Chimney Stack

Application Situation:

Top section of exhaust gas chimney stack.

 
 

Problem:

Existing coating was beginning to degrade due to exhaust gases and ultra-violet (UV) breakdown combined with inclement weather.

 
 

Products:

Belzona® 5111 (Ceramic Cladding)
Belzona® 4141 (Magma Build)

 

Substrate:

Bitumen coating over reinforced concrete

 
 

Application Method:

Application was carried out in accordance with modified Belzona Know-How System Leaflet WPA-2. Deteriorated bituminous coating was removed by grit blasting. Cracks and spalled concrete was rebuilt with Belzona® 4141 before coating with Belzona® 5111.

 
 

Belzona Facts:

Belzona® 5111 chosen due to its  excellent long term UV and chemical resistance. The ease of application of the Belzona system was also a benefit.
