| Belzona Solves Leaking School Roofs | | | Industry:Buildings & Structures (BSTR) | | | Application:Roof Problem Areas (RPA) | | | Customer Location:Prestigious boarding school in the south west of England | | | Application Date:August 2012 | | | Application Situation:School had been suffering water ingress via lead flashings & gutters on four boarding house roofs. | | | Problem:Asphalt, used to replace lead flashings in gutters, had failed allowing water ingress into the four boarding house buildings. Several attempts to repair the asphalt had failed. The school required a solution to be cold applied so allowing them to remain in use. | | | Products:Belzona® 3131 (WG Membrane) | | | Substrate:Asphalt, Slate, lead & Stone | | | Application Method:The application was carried out in accordance with modified versions of Belzona Know-How System Leaflets RPA-6 & RPA-8. | | | Belzona Facts:The Belzona solution was carried out over two weeks. Belzona® 3131 bonding to all of the substrates meant that the old asphalt did not require complete removal which could have led to damage to the slate tiles. The results were a complete success allowing the school continued use of the boarding houses. To replace the damaged asphalt with traditional lead work would have been over budget & involved hot work stopping the use of the boarding houses & the summer school events. | | | Photographs Description
