Wastewater Vacuum Truck Internal Coating And Repair

Water / Wastewater (WATR)

Tanks and Chemical Containment Areas (TCC)

Customer Location:

Los Angeles, CA, USA

Application Date:

Summer of 2015

Application Situation:

The wastewater and miscellaneous discharges of sewer compatible wastewater (MISC) were causing the interior of the vacuum trucks of the City of Los Angeles to corrode and become damaged from impact abrasion.

This damage was leading to failures within the intake pipe and corrosion was being found throughout the tank as a whole. If not addressed properly with the correct protection, the tank would eventually run to failure and require replacement.

Belzona 5811 (Immersion Grade)

Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal)

Belzona 1812 (Ceramic Carbide FP)

Application Method:

The internal area was blasted to white metal and hand applied with two coats of each product to its respective area. Belzona 5811 was applied to protect the entire tank. Belzona 1321 was applied to the intake pipework. Belzona 1812 was then applied for abrasion resistance on the tank opening/back opening doors.

Belzona Facts:

The replacement cost for the tanks would be in excess of $75,000 each (including labor) and the total Belzona application, which eliminated the replacement cost concern, was less thank $8,000 per tank.
