Photograph Descriptions
  1. External view of the vacuum truck
  2. View of the damaged internal area
  3. Belzona 1812 applied to the opening/back opening door
  4. Belzona 1321 applied to the intake pipework and Belzona 5811 applied to the entire tank
Application Situation
The wastewater and miscellaneous discharges of sewer compatible wastewater (MISC) were causing the interior of the vacuum trucks of the City of Los Angeles to corrode and become damaged from impact abrasion.
Application Method
The internal area was blasted to white metal and hand applied with two coats of each product to its respective area. Belzona 5811 was applied to protect the entire tank. Belzona 1321 was applied to the intake pipework. Belzona 1812 was then applied for abrasion resistance on the tank opening/back opening doors.
Belzona Facts
The replacement cost for the tanks would be in excess of $75,000 each (including labor) and the total Belzona application, which eliminated the replacement cost concern, was less thank $8,000 per tank.
