Problem: Welding had been attempted but was found to be time consuming & impractical on the area. Any water present behind the gaps during the welding process would pose a hazard to the technician.

Application Situation

A bridge had several gaps where water could penetrate & drip down onto a waterway below. A solution was required to seal these leak points.

Application Method

The gaps were first marked out & prepared with an angle grinder. Suitably sized plates were sourced & prepared in the same way. The plates were then bonded to the surface. The slump resistance of the Belzona material was sufficient to hold the plates in place with no additional shuttering, saving time & cost.

Belzona Facts

Belzona 1121 was used due to its extended working life, this feature was beneficial on this application as the works were carried out from a MEWP & time was needed to position in between the plate applications.
