BELZONA LINING FOR HEAT EXCHANGER SUMP
Industry: Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC)
Application: TCC-Tanks and Chemical Containment Areas (TCC)
Customer Location: Major Hospital, NE Scotland
Application Date: March 2004
Belzona® 4141 (Magma Build)
Belzona® 4181 (Magma AR Screed)
Problem: The system required a sump for the waste water to pass through, and having drilled it from solid concrete, it had to be lined and sealed.
- Sump drilled out
- Cutting inlet and outlet channels to laundry drain
- Walls rebuilt with Belzona® 4141 and paving slab installed
- Sump screeded with Belzona® 4181
The hospital decided to recover heat from the waste water in their laundry by installing a heat exchanger.
Application carried out in accordance with modified version of System Leaflet TCC-9. First a new base to the sump was created using a paving slab. Belzona® 4141 was applied to fill the damage caused by the drill cores. Belzona® 4181 was then screeded over the entire surface to provide heat resistance.
Prior to the Belzona solution they had been looking at trying to cement line then insert a stainless steel box liner.
