Problem: Previously, carbon steel pipe spools were lined with rubber. During the pipe spool service, various chemicals had broken down the rubber lining and started to corrode the steel. The Power Station opted to replace the pipe work with stainless steel spools and  requested that Belzona supply a solution to prevent internal corrosion. The pipe spools will come in contact with Sulphuric Acid and Chlorine Dioxide diluted in secondary treated sewage water.

Application Situation
The Power Station had 2 newly fabricated stainless steel pipe spools which were required to have an internal protective coating.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet VPF-2. After masking off all areas not to be coated, all edges were radiused and welds ground smooth before being grit blasted and coated with the Belzona 4311 system.  
Belzona Facts
Current pipes in service were lined with rubber and when in service this rubber lining was eroded away and caused the pipes to leak Sulphuric Acid. Using the Belzona coating solution the new pipes will have a longer service life.
