Belzona Facts
The traditional solution to this problem would involve precision machining of the boss surface. The initial preparation, setting up of equipment and the subsequent inspection all put together the estimated repair time for the alternative arrangement was about 8 days. The Belzona application and assembly was completed in 36 hours and inspection subsequent to the application and curing indicated a good even coat of Belzona. The system was assembled and checked for tightness satisfactorily. In normal running conditions, this repair will perform as good or better than the normal arrangement as the Belzona provides an erosion-corrosion resistant surface and being an electrical insulator will eliminate potential for galvanic corrosion in this area. The repair was completed with class ABS supervision.
