Problem: The disk of the gate valve had a large crack extending from the seat rings on the edge to the center of the disk.

Application Situation

36" gate valve on a crane ship.

Application Method

The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet VPF-8. Procedure was followed out on both sides of the disk.

Belzona Facts

Due to the composition of the ductile iron welding would have been difficult. Welding also would have introduced heat stresses as well as the potential for galvanic corrosion. ABS approved this method to get the vessel back in water with minimal downtime.
