Problem: The roof deck of the tank had been subjected to severe corrosion leading to a local leak of the oil vapour. This was very hazardous to the plant operation and there was also a risk of rain water contamination into the tank.

Application Situation
Leaking Oil Tank
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets TCC-1 & -5. The surface was cleaned by wet sand blasting to avoid hot work and spark. Belzona® 1161 was then used in conjunction with four layers of Belzona reinforcement sheets to prevent further leakage. Belzona® 5831 then applied to protect against further corrosion.
Belzona Facts
The surface tolerant properties of Belzona® 1161 & Belzona® 5831 allowed the application to be done on a wet blasted and oil contaminated surface which provided a quality repair safely.
