Problem: Riser suffering from corrosion due to the offshore environment required the restoration of metal loss and protection from further deterioration. The asset owner was interested in a compliant composite solution. A metallurgy survey determined there were three sections of the riser that required the installation of SuperWrap II.

Application Situation
4" diameter riser on oil & gas production platform.
Application Method
The area to be repaired was grit blasted to produce SSPC-SP 10 (Near White) with a minimum anchor profile of 3 mils. Belzona 9111 was used to clean and degrease the blasted surface. Belzona 1121 was used to fill pitted areas and restore original wall thickness. Belzona 9381 was saturated with Belzona 1982 and applied onto the riser in 5 wraps (10 layers) in compliance with the engineered design. Belzona 9382 was used to consolidate the repair and removed after the 24 hour curing process.
Belzona Facts
The asset owner required an installation that could be carried out without shutdown/loss of production and the use of hot work was not an option.
