Problem: The balcony floor which also acted as a roof area for the walkway below had become porous and had been allowing water to penetrate to the ceiling and into the supporting lintels above the windows. This was causing them to spall quite badly to the point they were at risk of becoming unstable if left untreated. Several previous attempts had been made by others to resolve the water ingress by patch repairs, none of which had proved successful.

Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets RPA-1, RPA-8 & RPA-9.
Belzona Facts
The college were contemplating removal of the balcony and replacement of the lintels due to the degradation caused by continued water ingress. Belzona® 3131 provided a high performance long life solution that not only protects the balcony from further water ingress but due to its micro porous nature enables any trapped moisture to escape. Belzona® 4141 was used to repair the badly damaged lintels. With its high bond strength, ability to repair thick sections without the need for shuttering and impermeable nature it provides a high performance long lasting solution to damaged stone and concrete
