Problem: This hydrogen flare stack had recently been installed on site, but gaps around the “hold down bolts” had resulted in water ingress to the underside of the stack. Several solutions were considered, but with 28 bolts and fins to accommodate, the obvious choice was a Belzona Tank Base Seal solution.

Application Method

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet GSS-3. Gaps around the bolts were first filled with Belzona 1121, before installing the Belzona Tank Base Seal system.

Belzona Facts

This customer was one of the first to adopt the Belzona system in the UK and to date has over 40 tanks protected on this one site. This application best illustrates how well the Belzona system can accommodate all of the detailed geometry on this 2.1m diameter flare stack. The Belzona Tank Base Sealing system is flexible, UV resistant and removes the risk of under base corrosion.
