Belzona 1311 Salvaged a Cracked Lining on a Valve

Problem: In order for the valve to fit correctly back on to the pipe spool the repair had to be flush with the remaining ebonite lining.

Application Method
The damaged ebonite liner was removed. The exposed steel was washed and grit blasted. Using a modified version of Belzona Know-How System leaflet GSS-10, formers were made from Belzona working surfaces and clamped into position. Belzona 1311 was applied and following curing the formers were removed.

Replacement coat of the valve was approximately €10,000. A weld repair would have burnt the remaining ebonite lining
