Problem: Our client's containment was facing corrosion from sulfuric acid and needed a new coating to protect the concrete secondary containment. The existing coating was buckling and there were hollow pockets underneath.

Before. Existing coating appeared not terrible but could easily be chipped away to reveal hollow concrete underneath.

Belzona 4111 was used to build a cove around the containment and pedestals on which the tank sits. We also used on heavily damaged areas.

Belzona 5811 was selected as the primer coat.

2 coats of Belzona 4311 to finish.

Application Situation
Our customer had used Belzona on other containments at the plant and this allowed an opportunity for another use. They needed a solid chemical barrier for possible acid leaks.
Application Method
The containment was first pressure washed which removed the hollow floor coating and 8" up the wall, we then followed with sand blasting where needed. Belzona 4111 was applied to the most damaged areas on the floor and walls. We also used it to build a 45 degree angle cove where the floor met the walls. Belzona 5811 was selected as the primer. We then followed with two coats of Belzona 4311.
