Photograph Descriptions

1. Grit Snail

2. Worn area inside grit bowl.

3. & 4. Belzona 1811 (Ceramic Carbide) replaced.

Application Situation
The grit removal system, called a Grit Snail, in a waste water treatment plant malfunctioned. The timer had quit working causing the Grit Snail to run constantly causing the factory installed sacrificial coating to wear prematurely through the coating in to the stainless steel housing.
Application Method
The stainless steel and remaining Belzona 1811 are grit blasted. The 1811 is mixed and applied 1/4" thick on the edges and slightly thicker in the canter.
Belzona Facts
The Grit Snail manufacturer applied a 6" wide band of 1811 in the wear area of the grit bowl. It is a sacrificial coating and must be renewed from time to time. Replacement bowls are quite expensive, thus having a protective coating that extends the service life of the equipment is ideal
