Problem: The ferry had sustained a series of dents on its starboard side above the water line. One of the dents was perforated. The boat had recently come out of dry dock in preparation for certification and it was virtually impossible to send it back to dry dock given the cost and the tight timeline to commission it.

Application Situation

An interisland ferry that transports passengers between islands.

Application Method

The solution involved Rope Access to apply Belzona 1111 and Belzona 9341 to rebuild the dents and seal the perforation. The application was carried out in accordance with modified versions of Belzona Know-How System Leaflets SOS -1 and SOS -2. We accessed the repair area via a 4-man rope access team. Surface preparation was performed using an MBX. The customer had their Project Manager on site and the service provider had a NACE – 2 Inspector.

This repair was planned, executed and handed over within a few hours to the delight of the customer. Once again, Belzona demonstrated the versatility of its solutions to this customer. The vessel was commissioned successfully on time and continues to make the Trinidad-Tobago run without issue.
