Application Situation
This impeller was showing the early stages of abrasive wear from wastewater solids. The customer wanted to repair the damage, and protect it from further damage. For only a couple hundred USD, this impeller was protected and returned to service in two days.
Application Method
The impeller was grit blasted in the customers blasting booth and rinsed of with acetone solvent before applying the Belzona 1311. Once the Belzona 1311 was firm enough, the first coat of Belzona 1321 was applied, and after a couple hours (per the Instructions For Use) the customer applied the second coat of Belzona 1321.
Belzona Facts
The actual amount of material used on this repair was considerably small, and even with the two coats of wear resistant Belzona 1321, the investment in repairing, protecting, and improving this impeller was only a portion of the cost to replace it. A replacement impeller would not have come with a protective coating, and would have soon began developing the same wear and damage that this one was exhibiting. Plus, the lead time on ordering and receiving a new impeller would have been weeks instead of two days.
