4. Finished application with a coating of Belzona 5811
Application Situation
Bonding stairs to the side of a tank as an alternative to welding.
Application Method
This application was carried out using a modified version of system leaflet VPF-15. The stairs were power washed and chiseled down to get rid of any loose contaminants. Once the stairs were cleaned the side of the tank and the bonding side of the stairs were grit blasted to Sa 2.5 before Belzona 1161 was used to bond the two surfaces together. Belzona 9341 was also incorporated into the paste grade for added support. Once the Belzona 1161 had cured a final coat of Belzona 5811 was applied for added corrosion resistance.
Belzona Facts
Welding wasn't an option in this circumstance as the tank would have had to be drained resulting in a loss of resources and also significant downtime. The Belzona solution was cold applied and therefore the tank didn't need draining.
