Application Situation

Leaking effluent treatment tank.

Application Method

The leaks were plugged with wooden wedges to stem the flow. The areas around the leaks were then repaired with Belzona 9611 (ES-Metal). When the area was sealed, the wooden wedges were cut flush with the tank wall. They then bonded over the entire failed areas with Belzona 1111. Finally, when the Belzona 1111 had cured a bolt was screwed in, sealing the leaks. Belzona 1111 was also applied in a 75mm band around the base of the tank, incorporating reinforcing sheets, to seal the multiple leaks around the base. This was completedin accordance with Belzona system leaflet TCC-01.

Belzona Facts

The customer was very pleased with the Belzona application. It allowed their production to continue, averted an environmental disaster, and gave them a long-term repair, saving them in the region of £180,000 by repairing the tank rather than having to replace it.
