Problem: The refinery had an existing tank base sealing system in place which was failing due to its rigidity. The failed system had resulted in water ingress, causing corrosion at the base of the tank and required protection for the long term.

Application Situation

Tanks at a refinery in West France were suffering from water ingress.

Application Method

Application completed in accordance with Belzona Know How System Leaflet TCC-4. Surface correctly prepared and conditioned before the application of Belzona 3111 to provide waterproof protection at the base of the tank.

Belzona Facts

This application was inspected three years after and found to be in good condition with no signs of corrosion. Subsequently, it was reinspected in 2017 and still found to be in excellent condition.The customer was very pleased with the application and its longevity in service. In addition, the customer was pleased because, unlike competitor systems, it is possible to inspect the thickness of the annualar rim through Belzona 3111.
