Problem: The customer had to replace the shell course on the bottom of a large storage tank. They were looking to protect the metal from water intrusion at the base of the tank under the new metal. We applied our Seal- A-Tank system to take care of this problem for them.

Blasting was being performed to prepare the carbon steel on the tank and the concrete for product application.

Blasting had been completed. Cleanup was done then conditioner applied to prepare for product application.

3111 with 9311 reinforcement cloth being applied to the tank and concrete.

The project was completed in 3 days and the customer was very happy with the results.

Application Situation
The Belzona Seal-A-Tank system was offered as a superior repair solution as opposed to other methods the customer had used in the past to protect their tank chins. The Seal-A-Tank system would protect from water intrusion, but due to its microporous design would allow moisture to evaporate if any were trapped under the tank. This would save the metal on the asset from corrosion.
Application Method
The tank and concrete were blasted for preparation. Then the area was cleaned. After that 3921 conditioner was applied. After this 3111 in conjunction with 9311 was applied to complete the Seal-A-Tank application.

The Belzona Seal-A-Tank system will save the customer money in the long run. This system will protect the tank chin and floor from corrosion for many years. This will save the customer both time and money as they will not have to address any issues with this area of the tank for many years.
