Belzona Seals & Reinforces a Water Pipeline at a Nuclear Plant

Problem: The pipeline was greatly corroded (mainly external corrosion) which led to the formation of a live leak at a weld.
Application Situation
A leaking water cooling pipeline within a Nuclear Power Plant.
Application Method
The pipeline could not be shutoff therefore grit blasting was not allowed. Surface preparation was therefore done using a Belt Sander & Grinder. The leak was plugged using Belzona 9611 (ES-Metal) and any pitting rebuilt using Belzona 1161 (Super UW-Metal) due to its surface tolerance prior to Belzona SuperWrap being applied. The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet VPF-11.
Belzona Facts
The application was carried out whilst the pipeline was in service therefore eliminating any downtime. The repair was also standards and calculated in accordance with ISO24817 with a 20-year design life.
