Problem: Welding was undesirable due to the potential for further cracking in the welds. This could potentially cause even more leaks.

Application Situation

Stainless steel vessels had developed pinhole leaks around welds. A cold applied & fast back to service repair was required to seal these leaks during a shutdown.

Application Method

The areas were first prepared using an MBX Bristle Blaster. Belzona 1111 Supermetal was applied to fair any defects. A four layer patch system was created using Belzona 1981 SuperWrap II resin, and Belzona 9381 reinforcing sheet. This application was completed in accordance with Belzona system leaflet TCC-1.
