Belzona repairs a raw mill in a cement industry

Problem: There are three rollers per mill and there are 12 wear plates (1200kg each) per roller. The clamps are fixed with 4 large bolts. There was play between the wear plate and the roller and the bolts and clamps were failing, leading to a forced stoppage of the mill.

Application Method
The application was done in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet SHM-8. Two wear plates were removed from the roller at a time and the area on the roller was grit blasted. The back of the new wear plate was also grit blasted and Belzona 1111 was applied to the roller in a layer of approximately 2cm thick in the position corresponding to one wear plate. The wear plate was then fitted onto the wet Belzona 1111 to create a perfect seat. The process was repeated until 12 wear plates had been installed.

Belzona 1111 was chosen by the customer here because it has the required properties for this specific application (high compressive strength, workability, etc) This application has been 100% successful since 2014. This job is repeated annually when the wear plates are being replaced. The quantity of material for 1 roller is 12 x 2kg or 36 x 2kg of Belzona 1111 per mill. There are 2 mills in this factory (raw mill and cement mill) which are very similar.
