Application Situation

12-inch diameter Natural Gas line that supplies the entire complex of 3 separate plants.

Application Method

Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know How System Leaflet VPF-11. After proper surface preparation Belzona 5831 with Belzona 9371 reinforcement tape were used in areas where potential pipe sweating could occur due to Belzona 5831's moisture tolerant capabilities. Belzona 1111 was then used to fill in the pits and gaps between bolts/nuts. A final coat of Belzona 5111 was used to protect the flange and pipe from further environmental attack.

Belzona Facts

The customer needed a solution that would not only stop metal degradation but bring back some structural integrity while providing corrosion protection until 2016 when pipe replacement could be addressed during a site wide outage. Customer decided to use a Belzona solution thanks to a previous repair on a cooling tower pipe completed a previous month.
