Application Situation

A waste water pump made from a High Chrome Alloy material is used to carry water with a high concentration of suspended solids.

Application Method

The surface was cleaned with water and detergent to remove residues and impurities. A non-ferrous, angular grit was used to grit blast the surface to a near white metal finish, and to achieve a rough profile. Belzona 2911 (Elastomer QD Conditioner) was applies to the surface and allowed to become touch dry. During the overcoating window, Belzona 2111 (D&A) High Build Elastomer) was applied. The application was carried out in accordance with a modified version of Belzona System Leaflet CEP-03.

Belzona Facts

Belzona 2111 (D&A High Build Elastomer) was selected to form a protective barrier for the internal surface from the effects of erosion. The high build nature of the material meant a thick layer could be applied to the surface for extended service life, reducing future maintenance requirements. The Belzona solution was a fraction of the cost of replacement.
