HOSPITAL RADIOTHERAPY ROOF REFURBISHED WITH BELZONA

Belzona 3111 (Flexible Membrane)

Problem: The aged felt had been patched many times in the past, but leaks persisted and so they wanted a long term solution that would have minimal impact on the hospital and public visitors. There was also a lot of roof furniture over the roof including cable trays, AC units, pipe racks and foot bridges that would have made installation of new felt or a single ply membrane impossible.
Photograph Descriptions

Application Situation
2000m² felt roof spanning Radiotherapy Department.
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets RPA-6 and RPA-8. A further coat of Belzona 3111 was used to add a walkway across the roof.
Belzona Facts
The Belzona 3111 has a BBA certificate with an assumed working life of 25 years, which gave the client the confidence in the system. As the membrane is lightweight, it can be applied directly onto the existing substrates, with no need to remove the aged felt. The water based material allowed application to continue throughout the day with no odours being detected by the public or staff. In addition, the materials are all liquid applied and so it can easily encapsulate all of the difficult furniture to create a seamless flexible roof membrane, with a simple brush application.
