Belzona 1511 (Super HT-Metal)

Problem: A stainless steel pasteurising bottling line had a large leak from a joint. The pasteurizer could not be disassembled to replace the gasket and therefore the only option was to seal the joint in situ.

Application Situation
The internal seal between two sections of the stainless steel pasteurising bottling line had developed a leak.
Application Method
All of the exposed mastic material between the joint was removed. The repair area was then mechanically prepared using a hand-held industrial surface preparation tool. Belzona 1511 was then applied to both the joint and pre-formed plates using a stiff brush to eliminate air entrapment. The plates where then bonded onto the substrate.

Taking the equipment offline would have resulted in a two-week outage for the brewery and replacement of the equipment was estimated at £30,000. The Belzona solution lent itself perfectly to this repair as it could be applied in-situ with no hot work. In addition, Belzona Applicators are trained to work in confined spaces allowing them to safety apply this repair at a fraction of the cost of alternatives.
