Problem: Efficiency losses and pump breakdown due to severe erosion-corrosion of the single vertical axial flow pump (7090 m³/h). Prior to the Belzona solution, the client had to replace the pump components annually. As a significant local electricity supplier, downtime of this critical equipment caused major problems.

Application Situation
Sea water cooling system pump for a 60 MW turbine.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflets CEP-1, CEP-3 and CEP-4.
Belzona Facts
The customer was surprised that the eroded equipment could be repaired and delighted with the vastly improved reliability and performance. The pump casing and suction bell were also coated and protected internally and externally. After 9 years in service, the coating was found to still be in excellent condition.
