Problem: After several years in service, the surfaces had become corroded and eroded by sea water. In addition, cavitation damage on the vanes of the diffuser was seen as a major problem.

Application Situation
Casing and components of the sea water circulation pump.
Application Method
The application was carried out in accordance with Belzona Know-How-System Leaflets CEP-1, CEP-3, CEP-4 and CEP-10. Damaged vanes were removed and reinstalled with mechanical metal stitching repair techniques. The surface was then coated with Belzona 1341. The edges of the diffuser blades were protected from further cavitation damage with Belzona 2141.

Welding new inserts onto the blades was impossible, so Belzona, in essence, gave a new life to this equipment. Not only repairing the damage, but Belzona will protect the pump for the long term from the effects of corrosion, erosion and cavitation, as well as improve its efficiency.
