Problem: The tank was suffering from corrosion issues around the seam areas. In two places the corrosion was through wall and raw sewage was leaking out of the sides. Whilst a decision was being made as to whether or not to build a new tank or repair the existing was made we were asked to apply some temporary patches so the tank could still be used.

Application Situation
Leaking glass lined Storm Tank in Sewage works.
Application Method
Application was carried out in accordance with Belzona System Leaflet TCC-1 & TCC-3. After cleaning and preparing surface with an MBX Bristle Blaster, Belzona 1211 impregnated into Belzona 9341 (Reinforcement Tape) was used to cover area before conducting a cold plate bond using Belzona 1161.
Belzona Facts
All works had to be carried out in one day as the tank had to be put back into service at the end of the shift. By using the Belzona 1211 to patch over any holes reduced the chance of failure when the tank was filled shortly after the repair. The use of Belzona 1161 with its surface tolerant properties allowed the repair to be submerged whilst curing. The customer was very happy with the repairs and instead of building a new tank is going to line the inside with a Belzona System.
