Problem: The original bund coating had failed after a short time in service, resulting in areas of exposed concrete within the bunded area.
The bund held a mixture of chemical storage tanks and dosing equipment.
The chemicals contained within the bund were Hydrochloric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide and Caustic Soda.

The Belzona Coating after 2 years in service showing no signs of deterioration, even after the occasional leak.

Application Situation
The client required a coating that would handle the various chemicals stored within the bund if any spillages occurred.
Also with concrete repairs required the client required a coating system that reduced downtime and avoided long curing times between the coatings used.
Application Method
Any existing loose coating was removed by mechanical/ and manual means.
Areas of exposed concrete where also taken back to sound material.
The whole bund was then prepared by the use of floor grinders to provide a suitable key for coating. all dust was then removed by vacuuming.
Areas of damaged concrete were repaired using Belzona 4131 (Magma Screed), the same product was also used to install a 50mm/50mm fillet around the bund walls and equipment.
Belzona 4911 (Magma TX Conditioner) was then applied, immediately followed by Belzona 2 coats of Belzona 4311 (Magma CR1)
The system was then allowed to cure.

Belzona 4311 was selected because of outstanding resistance to a broad range of chemicals.
The coating was inspected after 2 years of service, and was showing no signs of deter deterioration.
