Belzona 1212 was chosen to repair the crack. As easy application was expected due to its perfect surface tolerant properties.

Problem: The crack was found deep inside the GE Jenbacher gas engine. The area to be repaired was difficult to access and the regular surface preparation (SA2,5 and 75 microns) was not an option.

Application Situation

The operator noticed a significant loss of the cooling liquid. After a thorough investigation a crack in the cooling liquid chamber was found.

Application Method

Grinding using a small size electric rotary file was followed by a cleaning and degreasing with 9111 prior the application of the mixed 1212. The paste has been applied with a Belzona spatula through an 80mm (3,15") diameter exhaust hole while another colleague controlled and directed from the other side of the engine.

Cheap and very fast emergency repair of a very expensive power plant unit. No other repair alternative. No unexpected breakdown as repair was made during the maintenance time of the engine.
