Problem: Some parts of a stern tube was facing erosion corrosion and the crew was finding it hard to align the propeller because of uneven diameter. Belzona chosen to fill the pitting and create an even diameter for better alignment.

Application Situation

The shipyard crew was having difficulty aligning the stern tube due to uneven diameter caused by erosion corrosion. Various part were pitted and requires filling and machining to a precise diameter. Belzona was chosen to fill and protect from future deterioration.

Application Method

Affected stern tube lining was blasted to the level of cleanliness as instructed in the product IFU. Surface was degreased and Belzona 1111 was applied and machined to the required dimension. Two coats of Belzona 1321 were applied afterwards to seal the area. The application was inspected and passed for the alignment of the propeller.
