Problem: Seawater pump housings was suffering from internal corrosion and local erosion after a short period in service. In order to prevent breakdown of the pumps, the customer urgently decided to rebuild and protect the internal surfaces.

Application Situation
The customer wanted to extend maintenance intervals on their pumps and prevent high cost and time consuming replacements.Application Method
1. The pump housings was internally grit blasted to SA-2,5 with a minimum surface profile of 75 microns according to ISO 1805-12. Corroded and worn areas was rebuilt and restored using Belzona 1311 Ceramic R-metal
3. A second grit blasting of both internals and externals to SA-2,5 with a minimum surface profile of 75 microns according to ISO 1805-1 was carried out.
4. Internal surfaces was coated with 2 layers a 375micron of Belzona 1321 Ceramic S-metal.
